Candidate Screening
Candidate screening is the process employers use to evaluate job applicants and determine if they're a good fit for a role. It typically involves reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and sometimes even running background checks or skills assessments. The goal is to find the best person for the job, but also to make sure they align with the company culture and values. Think of it as the first step in making sure both the employer and the candidate are on the same page before moving forward in the hiring process.
Traditional screening falls short
Traditional screening methods, however, often fall short in some key areas. The biggest issue is their "one size fits all" approach. A CV doesn’t necessarily show whether someone can actually perform the job – it only highlights where they’ve been. This leaves room for bias, too. Recruiters may be inclined to favor candidates with familiar backgrounds or polished applications, overlooking those who might have the right skills and mindset for the role.
